About Scott Freeman
I am a Java developer working with Highmark Insurance in Pittsburgh, PA. I do development both for the Web and for stand-alone applications. I am enjoying the opportunity to improve my skills in a variety of areas, like WebSphere, Struts, and EJB.

I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in August of 2000. From then until the summer of 2002, I was working with Northrop Grumman Information Technology doing Web applications development for the Department of Defense. I worked primarily with Java, Perl, and Oracle.

Throughout 1999 I was working with Profound Consulting, a small consulting firm in Indianapolis. I focused on data warehousing, transactional databases, and information-based end-user applications, and still have an interest there. From February through August of '99, I was assigned at Ameritech in Indianapolis. They are one of the telephone companies created from the breakup of Ma Bell. I worked on a large-scale data warehouse using Oracle and Business Objects. From September through December, I was assigned with Centillion Data Systems, also in Indy. There I was once again working with Oracle, but I was also doing reporting in Crystal Reports. The two assignments provided me with fantastic experience with information systems.

In the summer of 1998, I was an intern for a small company in Pittsburgh called Be Free, Inc. I worked in a team environment designing and implementing new features within a PowerBuilder application connected over the Internet to an Oracle database. I also worked extensively with the account manager handling technical questions and system integration for new customers.

I was the tympanist for the Purdue Symphony Orchestra and a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity. Because of this, most of my friends have something to do with the band department. I met my wife, Courtney, in band several years ago. She graduated from Purdue in May, 1998 and is now working for Kellogg's in Lancaster, PA. We were married on September 4, 1999.
